Jafra Beauty Talk With RInjani: ROYAL JELLY JAFRA

ROYAL JELLY JAFRA

2:50 PM

Royal Jelly is the crown jewel of JAFRA. Intriguing, powerful and infinitely rejuvenating, the ingredient royal jelly is one of nature’s best-kept secrets. Jan and Frank Day, founders of JAFRA Cosmetics International, were in search of something unique to be the “star” ingredient of their first product. Their research drew them to ancient cultures, where they discovered that royal jelly had been admired for centuries due to its invigorating and rejuvenating properties.
The first records took them back to the Far East. They learned that royal jelly was used by women in China as an important part of their daily beauty regimen. In ancient Egypt, the royal jelly honey was considered a “sacred youth elixir” and was offered to the pharaoh and his queen. In Greece, it was called the “God’s ambrosia” for Olympic Athletes, while Mayans referred to royal jelly as the “tonic of the youth.”
What makes royal jelly such a complex and potent ingredient?
Royal jelly has always been the food of the queen bee. Interestingly, queen bees are not born, but rather made from the nutritious properties of royal jelly. Royal jelly is secreted by nurse bees and fed only to the queen. On average, queen bees are 42% larger, live 70 to 80 times longer than worker bees and produce more than 2 ½ times their own body weight in eggs every day. Their extraordinary reproductive fertility, energy, size and longevity are believed to be due to royal jelly.
Jan and Frank were intrigued by royal jelly and excitedly continued their research, which ultimately led to the creation of the original classic “Royal Jelly Milk Balm.” The formula was a major success because of its high efficacy, Jan’s enthusiasm and the story behind the product. Royal jelly became the star ingredient and Royal Jelly Milk Balm became JAFRA’s signature product.
Pragna Chakravarti, Chief Scientific Officer, discusses the formula: “What makes the royal jelly ingredient mysterious is that over the years, scientists around the world have tried to duplicate and synthesize it in the laboratory. They have been partially successful in matching about 90 to 95% of its natural composition. In its pure natural state, it cannot yet be 100% duplicated by scientists. At JAFRA, this triggered further scientific research over the last several years on pure royal jelly and its synergy with Youth Genes (Sirtuin Activators) in skin care. The extraordinary findings from the studies conducted, in collaboration with research in Switzerland, resulted in the creation of JAFRA’s exclusive Royal Jelly infused Cellspan Complex used today in Royal Jelly Milk Balm Advanced and featured across the entire Royal Jelly line of products.”
